Ship Architects, Inc. was established in 1999 by Mike Schrider under the name of Schrider and Associates, Inc. Altug Basaran was hired in 2002 as a naval architect to support the company’s functional design services.
Altug Basaran, Joe Comer, and Gerald Moore acquired the company in 2006 and changed the name to Ship Architects, Inc. (SAi). The new ownership quickly adopted ShipConstructor software. Production design services such as lofting, nesting, and pipe spools became the company’s primary focus in the following years.
Altug Basaran, P.E., became the sole owner of SAi in 2018, with the vision of further developing the functional design services to include concept and contract phases in addition to the well-established production design capabilities. A larger office building was obtained in 2019 to provide the room needed for the growth. Experienced engineers and capable design technicians have joined SAi’s core group to support the new vision since 2020
Today, Ship Architects, Inc. is a sound group of naval architects, marine engineers, and design technicians who provide engineered solutions in concept development, contract design & construction details to shipyards and vessel owners in Mobile, Bayou La Batre, and across the country.
The company’s unique strength comes from its ability to combine our shipbuilding experience and engineering knowledge with our code of conduct to produce technically sound solutions for our clients.
