SUMMARY:March Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our March luncheon March 20 at 12 noon at The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel. \n\n\n\nThe luncheon will feature speaker Gregg Baumann who will share an overview of Resolve Marine’s salvage operation of the container ship “MV Dali” which collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore\, Maryland in March 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBaumann’s first assignment was aboard USS Gridley (CG 21) serving as the Boiler’s Officer’s\, the Ship’s Material Maintenance Officer\, and the Electronic Warfare Officer.  Following his sea tour\, Baumann transitioned to the Engineering Duty Officer Community (EDO) and completed training at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center\, in Panama City\, FL where he graduated top of his class. \n\n\n\nAs an EDO\, Baumann served as:  Project Officer to the Morgan City\, LA detachment of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP)\, New Orleans; Production Officer for the SUPSHIP New Orleans detachment in Ingleside\, TX; Production and Diving Officer at the Navy’s Ship Repair Facility in Sasebo\, Japan; and Assistant for Salvage in the Naval Sea Systems Command’s Office of the Supervisor of Diving & Salvage.    \n\n\n\nBaumann continued his career with tours as the EDO Detailer and Community Manager; DDG 51 New Construction Program Manager’s Representative at SUPSHIP Bath\, ME; Chief of Staff for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Ship programs;  Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research\, Development\, and Acquisition (ASN RD&A); Program Manager of PMS 326 at NAVSEA\, “International Fleet Support Programs” to include support of the Saudi Naval Expansion Program (SNEP); and the Navy’s Director of Ocean Engineering\, Supervisor of Salvage and Diving.  During his military career\, he was involved in and led many national and international maritime salvage disasters.  He has been featured as a subject matter expert on “60 Minutes”\, CNN\, CBS News\, Discovery Channel\, History Channel\, Maritime Reporter\, and Maritime Technology magazines.  Additionally\, he has authored technical papers for the American Society of Naval Engineers Journal. \n\n\n\nAfter retiring from the military\, he joined CACI Inc. as a Senior Program Manager within the Training and Warfighter Readiness group.  He was the company’s Subject Matter Expert for ship life cycle maintenance and sustainment for allied navy’s Foreign Military Sales opportunities and managed an international strategic portfolio.  Additionally\, he was the Director of Program Management for the manufacture of domestic and international naval maritime weapon systems at Thales Defense and Security Inc.\, Clarksburg\, MD.  He joined Resolve Marine\, Ft Lauderdale\, FL\, as their Government Program Manager in January 2023.  He is based out of Resolve Marine’s Washington DC area office.
